Zie mij gaan!

Cycling in Ghent should be fun, safe, and stylish but too many students were riding without proper visibility. That’s where the campaign “Zie Mij Gaan” ("See Me Rolling") came in: a creative push to make bike lights not just a safety must, but a cool statement.

The idea for the sticker sheet was mine, because the budget was constricted to a card only, why not make the most out of that card? I wanted to create something students would actually want to use. Something fun, playful, and low-threshold. We made reflective stickers that students could peel and stick on bikes, helmets, or backpacks. Not only did they add visibility, but they became a kind of accessory: expressive, bold, and practical.

Design-wise, I had a lot of creative freedom. The only constraint was sticking to the brand colors of De Fietsambassade, everything else was open. I experimented with type, shapes, and humor to make the stickers pop and speak the students’ visual language.

The campaign also lived on social media and on campus screens, where motion design brought the message to life with catchy visuals and light-hearted tone. The slogan “Zie mij gaan met mijn fietslichten aan” added a rhythmic, memorable touch that stuck, just like the stickers.

The response was so positive that the client asked for a follow-up edition of the sticker campaign. Seeing students actually use and love something you designed especially when it helps keep them safe was one of the most rewarding things.
