Koel mij af
With rising temperatures and soaring energy bills, keeping homes cool in summer is becoming more important and more urgent. For the City of Ghent and De Energiecentrale, we created “Koel mij af” (“Cool me down”), a playful yet practical campaign to get residents thinking (and acting) on sustainable cooling.
I worked on the visual development of the campaign, shaping a vibrant summer-inspired identity that balanced cheeky headlines with useful information. From animated social posts and outdoor visuals to infographics and digital assets, I helped design every piece to feel light and inviting, while still delivering a clear message.
The challenge was to get people to engage with a serious topic, climate adaptation without being too technical or preachy. So we brought in a bit of flirtation and humor. Headlines like “Koel mij af, je doet me blozen” made people smile, while graphics explained practical solutions like green roofs, shading techniques, and energy-efficient renovations.
A big focus was also introducing De Energiecentrale’s renovation coaches experts offering free advice to make homes more climate-ready. I helped shape how they were presented visually: accessible, helpful, and trustworthy, across platforms like Meta, Pinterest, and Google Display.
This was a project where I could explore creative contrast: turning a warm problem into a cool, engaging story, with design that was both eye-catching and actionable.
